Solidor Composite Doors
Maintenance and care guidelines?
Can I paint a Solidor?
It’s natural to think about painting our door as the finish has an authentic timber look. However, it is not faced with timber and is finished with an ABS plastic skin and a UPVC edge banding material. This finish combined with our solid timber core means the door is virtually maintenance-free and will never require painting.
If you wish to paint the face of our door or have it sprayed a different colour, it can be done but we must emphasize that the door is not designed to be sprayed. Should you take on this task, please be aware that your warranty will not cover any damage to the skin or its’ finish.
What is a U-Value?
U-Values measure how effective a material is as an insulator. The lower the U-value is, the better the material is as a heat insulator. There is a balance between achieving the optimum benefit that you will receive from a door that is opened many times a day and achieving high- security standards. The overall U-Value of our Solidor composite door range is guaranteed to be 1.6 Wm2/K or better. The current required building standard for composite door manufacture is 1.8 Wm2/K which they easily surpass.
